Mumbai Local: Places Of Faith - Finding Belief Through A Camera
But what if we followed multiple faiths on multiple journeys? Can you imagine the stories we could witness and partake of? Would our worldviews remain the same?
We are thrilled to invite Hemant Chaturvedi cinematographer, photographer and tripper to Mumbai Local. Though he is better known as a cinematographer, with films like Company and Maqbool to his name, the still camera has always gripped Hemant's imagination as well. Hemant sees and expresses the world through photography. And faith and its many expressions have fascinated him, each one rich with the promise of a journey waiting to happen.
Hemant has traversed the country, following faith and discovering how it manifests itself in so many varied forms in so many different places. This Mumbai Local, we can look forward to joining him on his travels from the Kumbh Mela to Adipur, the town of Chaplin impersonators, from the Tibetan mountains to Lonar, a crater dotted with Shiv temples. His talk will be peppered with enthralling anecdotes, spiritual journeys and of course, some amazing photography.
Let's look beyond the given to understand what the photographer sees, why he chooses to immortalise certain moments and what he is trying to express through these. Let's look at faith through a completely unconventional lens.
