The Saath-Saath Project, curated by Tejaswini Niranjana, involves a set of cross-cultural collaborations between musicians and scholars in India and China.
The Mumbai event will showcase a musical dialogue between Zhe Lai (folk musician from Central China), Kimho Ip (music researcher and yang chin player from Hong Kong) and three practitioners of Hindustani music, Omkar Havaldar, Bindhumalini, and Rutuja Lad.
Zhe Lai and Kimho are visiting India in June 2019. They will interact with Omkar, Bindhumalini, and Rutuja, and work together on the pieces of music which shall be presented in the event. We hope this cross-cultural collaboration will create an impact on how we reflect on our own cultural space and open up possibilities for new conversations.
