Nagarkirtan

A heart touching story of love seldom celebrated, yet as deep as any other, Nagarkirtan will leave you spellbound with its narrative brought alive by the effortless and striking performances by its leading actors. Ritwick Chakraborty and Ridhhi Sen deliver a spectacle worth remembering and Kaushik Ganguly is at his very best behind the camera. Holding a stellar 9.1 rating on IMDB, the film brings alive a society we hardly know and a relationship we can hardly fathom. At the 65th National Film Awards, the film won four Awards including, Special Jury Award (Feature Film) and National Film Award for Best Actor for Riddhi Sen.

Purnendu Pahari is an immigration officer at the airport who comes across a ravishing frequent flyer Madam Ramona. And there’sTitli, a girl fighting a terminal disease but crazily in love with a movie star.

Shironaam:

Abhin and Anandi’s peaceful life is shattered when he decides to cover a dreaded terrorist. As the cameraman of a prominent news channel, Abhin makes it his mission to uncover as many details as possible of his elusive foe, with his attempts leading him to grave danger. With their lives turned topsy- turvy, Anandi decides to step in and walk a perilous path that would change her life forever.

“Shironam” is the directorial debut of Indranil Ghosh, a famous art director, and brother of the legendary Rituparno Ghosh. From being in charge of the art direction in many of Rituparno’s movies, he now steps into the direction and team HBFF is excited and humbled to host the first-ever screening of his work.

Ahaa Re

The beautiful direction of Ranjan Ghosh brings to life, the bittersweet love story between Farhaz from Bangladesh, and Basundhara from Kolkata. Simplicity is the recurrent theme throughout the movie. It breathes life, on a union of Bengali culture from two countries, as well as the social and religious hurdles between the protagonists.

Watch the fabulous Rituparna Sengupta and Arifin Shuvo in this fiesta of love, and food. Paran Bandhopadhyay shines brilliantly as Bashundhara’s father, too. Another reason not to miss  Ahaa Re!
