South Asian Symphony Orchestra

Bengaluru-based South Asian Symphony Foundation presents Chiragh, a concert by the South Asian Symphony Orchestra (SASO) promoting cultural diplomacy through music, among the eight nations of South Asia. SASO`s musicians are entirely from the South Asian diaspora. The concert featuring classical works by Beethoven, Bizet, Brahms, Mozart, Puccini and Félicien David will be conducted by Houston-based Viswa Subbaraman. Sri Lankan-born Tharanga Goonetilleke of New York will be the vocal soloist. A specially commissioned orchestral work, Hamsafar: A Journey through South Asia will be premiered. Another commissioned work by the Indian American composer Kamala Sankaram, titled `Bhadke` will be premiered.
