Back in 2014, a few like-minded friends had an amazing idea. An idea that was to alter the face of music concerts in the Northeast, forever; just that they didnt know about it. With minimal resources, a handful of hard working peers, unconditional support from the locals and utmost zest, they thought of executing the idea and Shine A Light, the honest festival of Rock 'N' Roll in the region, was born.
The organizers zeroed on Sohra, a sleepy town in Meghalaya, as the festivals venue. Rich with pristine hills, crystal clear waterfalls and inviting solitude, they all knew Sohra is the perfect place for their dream to take shape and as expected it did, adding an apt subtitle 'voice of the silent hills'.
Like most dream ventures, the first year was tough for the team but as The Beatles sang, 'With a little help from our friends', team Shine A Light managed to pull it off well. By the time their child was two-years-old, the thought was already hailed as one of the best outdoor camping music festivals in the region.
But as they say everything comes with a price, the growing popularity of the festival introduced some new challenges for the organizers the toughest one being the test to live up to the newly acquired name (rather call it fame). However, as they say, In midst of storm that we discover islands, Shine A light sailed through.
In its second chapter, the festival gave more to its fans and pledges to help music buffs experience musical festivity initstrademark matchless manner. From proper camping deals, outdoor activities (read angling, cycling and hiking) to gorging on authentic local cuisines,ShineALight2.0 is a pilgrimage for lovers of Rock and Roll (least understood -withasense of belonging). Itsafestival where one can interact, share and discuss their love for music and take home memories which are sure to linger in one's mind foralong time.
For those of you still concertly on hiatus, welcome the third edition is knocking on your door (look around the page for more). Till you get your calendar marked and a tent to feel Hippi under the star-lit sky, watch below.
