The movie starts off in a decent way and the first half will be entertaining filled with comedy and romance. Some of the scenes with Sunil will definitely grab the attention. The romance track between Tej and Kalyani Priyadarshan is also showcase in a decent way. But the second half becomes more serious and more than entertainment, the second half features more emotional content. When compared to the first half, the second half is boring at times and will test the patience of the audience. But the climax is good. Overall, `Chitralahari` is a one time watch.

The director depicts the father-son relationship well but it can sometimes get too preachy. There are some really good scenes between Sai Tej and Posani, when Posani explains Sais problem and where his failure is stopping him. But in the end, one feels that the emotional part is missing.
