SYNOPSIS
The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy. He was raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field).

Now Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. When Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins to question their disappearance.

The clues lead him to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner.

Fed on Tim Burton`s gothic, surreal vision of Batman and Joel Schumacher loony follow-ups, it was 2002`s Spider-Man that changed our outlook about superhero films for good. There is no upside down kiss under the rain, but there is an unexpected moment under a starlit balcony and a finale that puts a big twist on the bittersweet climax of the 2002 movie. To be fair, despite covering pretty much the same ground as that earlier film, The Amazing Spider-Man still works. You could put it down to the emotional depth that (500) Days of Summer director Marc Webb brings to key scenes, or simply to leading man Andrew Garfields refreshingly original approach to the part. ...Read full review
