Bhimsen Joshi (1922-2011) and Kishori Amonkar (1931-2017) were among the virtuosos who reigned supreme in the firmament of Hindustani music in the 20th century. Both have been known as trailblazers whose genius had lasting impact on the contemporary performance practice. Besides art music, both of them adopted and practised many other genres of music with equal aplomb. Aarya Ambekar and Prathamesh Laghate have trained in Hindustani music. As children, both have been the finalists of Marathi Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs. Today, as versatile artistes, they have several live concerts and TV shows to their credit, besides lending their voices to Marathi films. Ambekar has also had the opportunity to act in Marathi films. In this concert Ambekar and Laghate present several bandishes including khayal, thumri, dadra, bhajan, abhang, ghazal, natyageet and bhavgeet immortalised by Bhimsen Joshi and Kishori Amonkar.
