Verdict: Boldly speaks of what India needs - male contraception. This year so far has been a good one for movies, or movies with a social message we should say. We saw Toilet: Ek Prem Katha last month which encouraged people to make toilets within their house, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan last week that was based on []... ...Read full review
Set in a North Indian village, three distinct men - local goon Arjun (Shreyas), retired army officer Jagawar Chaudhry (Sunny) and school teacher Vinay (Bobby) are shocked to find themselves becoming the `poster boys` of male sterilisation after their pictures randomly appear on a public service ad promoting vasectomy. ...Read full review
Prem Chopra has a candid catchphrase in Dulhe Raja: Nanga nahayega kya, nichodega kya. This literally translates to a poor guy doesnt have the luxury of bathing and rinsing his clothes. Metaphorically, it means a person without clothes has nothing to hide. ...Read full review
What happens when you find your face on a poster extolling the virtues of nasbandi? Instant embarrassment, followed by an explanation, followed by laughter, right? Wrong ji wrong. Because this sorry mess of a film doesnt go a step beyond pure embarrassment. ...Read full review
Poster Boys`s school play enthusiasm never aims above a low IQ comedy expecting us to guffaw at the sight of Bobby, his wife and kids wearing the same set of bright yellow, Hello Kitty-print pyjama suits. I half-smiled to that, will you? ...Read full review
Technically, sound and made with moderate production values the film offers a convincing appeal. The background score by composer Amar Mohile and the songs choreographed by Ganesh Acharya add life to the jamboree. ...Read full review
Despite the loose ends in the script, its Shreyas Talpade the director along with the aura and charisma of Sunny Deol, a great performance by Bobby Deol that keep the film floating and entertains you throughout. The film doesnt get preachy at all and yet delivers a message even if its half baked. Watch it for the funny jokes and the chemistry shared between Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Shreyas Talpade. You are in for a blast. ...Read full review
A good comedy can appeal to the masses in two scenarios if the script is genuinely funny, or the cast, exceptionally talented. Shreyas Talpade, who makes his directorial debut with `Poster Boys`, an official remake of the Marathi hit `Poshter Boyz` (2014), attempts to make an earnest comedy. Unfortunately, the film, which educates the audience about the importance of vasectomy, remains as mediocre on screen, as we assume it would have been on paper. ...Read full review
The Deols return to the big screen this Friday but not in another one of their Yamla Pagla Deewana films. They share the screen space with Shreyas Talpade in Poster Boys, his directorial debut and a remake of his Marathi film Poshter Boyz. The film revolves around three men who inadvertently become the poster boys of a vasectomy campaign. ...Read full review
After a long break, the Deol brothers Sunny and Bobby have joined forces once again to win the hearts of silver screen audiences. The duo took the cinemas by storm on Friday with their latest release `Poster Boys` which has been directed by Shreyas Talpade who can also be seen playing an important role in the film. ...Read full review
When the opening credit of a film somewhere between the poorly dubbed Rahul Dravid starring anti-smoking disclaimers and the first frame reads Special Thanks to Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty, its impossible to be optimistic about the next two hours. In fact, it takes all the will power in the world to not walk out right then. So I stick around, because the Deols are essentially nice men. ...Read full review
Would you ever recommend a comedy that`s so flat and dispirited that coming back to real life felt like a far better option? Thats how youd describe Poster Boys after youve survived the horror (that lasts for over 2 hours). While theres no harm in watching films that are so bad, they are actually funny, theres definitely something fatal about comedies that were made to elicit chuckles, but were much bad to care. ...Read full review
Imagine a 20-minute television sketch stretched to last 128 minutes, fitted out with the worlds silliest fatuous jokes? Even if it is a thin storyline, there isnt any dearth of possibilities to flesh out any idea and develop it into a quirky plot. ...Read full review
Poster Boys is a remake of the 2014 Marathi movie with the same name with a slight deviation in spelling. Shreyas Talpade was the producer of that film, while this time he makes his debut as director. The original Marathi comedy was a runaway hit and a concept that worked for the social-comedy genre. Based an already proven concept, Poster Boys tilts the balance this time in favour of comedy over social relevance. ...Read full review
