Joy Maisnam has graduated from National School of Drama in 2008. He owes his theatre education to eminent theatre personality Guru Late Sanakhya Ebotombi. He has done certification from London International School of Performing Arts, London in Devising Theatre and Performance. He is also trained in Yoga, Thang Ta, Kalari Paitu, Chhau, Silambam, Kick Boxing. He is associated with theatre from almost 19 years and as director has done some splendid plays like Natak ho hi Nahi Sakta, Loidriba Wari, 9 Days Newspaper (Performed in BRM Fest. 2013), The Dance and The Railroad (Performed in Colombo International Theatre Fest 2015, Bharat Muni Rang Utsav 2017), Binod Maisnam`s ``ECHO`` (Performed in North East Theatre Festival, Sikkim 2016), Andolan (National Theatre Festival, Dhampur U.P. 2016), The Journey of Sorrow (13th TFT Festival Chandigarh 2018, Theatre Olympic 2018), The Diary of a Madman (Performed in Taiwan International Fest. 2017, Colombo International Theatre Festival 2018, B.V. Karanth Rang Utsav 2018), Andha Yug (Yuva Natya Samaroh 2017, Nat Samarat Natya Mahotsav 2018).
His direction is not restricted to any language barrier as he has directed plays in Manipuri, English, and Hindi. The plays under his directorial venture always stand for ingenuity as different forms of martial arts and `Psycho-Physical ` style are clubbed together to produce a play. Some of his notable accolades for contribution in theatre are Akademi Young Talented Award 2014 (Manipur State KalaAkademi), Yuva Natya Samaroh Award 2017 (Sahitya Kala Parishad, Delhi), Young Talent Artist Award 2018, (Manipur State Kala Akademi)
