Emily Mortimer, born as Emily Kathleen Anne Mortimer, is an English actor and writer of films and television. She is popularly known for her performance in the movie Love and Amazing (2001) for which she won an Independent Spirit Award. Mortimer began her career acting career in 1994 with the TV show Under the Hammer and went on to appear in TV shows such as Screen Two (1995), Silent Witness (1996), Coming Home (1998), and 30 Rock (2007). However, one of her most prominent roles on television came with the TV series The Newsroom. She also wrote and created the TV show Doll & Em. Some of Mortimer`s notable movies include Match Point (2005), Chaos Theory (2008), Shutter Island (2010), Hugo (2011), The Sense of an Ending (2017) and Mary Poppins Returns (2019).
