Nadaswara Vidwans Sheik Mahaboob Subhani belongs to a family of reputed musicians hailing from Peda Kothapalli, Prakasam District in Andhra Pradesh. Sheik Mahaboob belongs to the 8th generation inheriting the legacy. Training began early and Sheik Mahaboob learned under the tutelage of his father Kothapalli Sheik Meera Saheb. Both the husband and wide are musicians have also had vocal training for five years under Sri K Chandramouli and from Padma Shri Late Dr Sheik Chinna Moulana Sahib. Ganakala in the Thanjavur Baani for 10 years. They have received the Kalaimamani awards in 1994 from the Government of Tamil Nadu and have performed extensively in India and abroad. In 2005 they were conferred the Dr Thiruvengadu Subramania Pillai Centenary Award by the Subhramanyam Memorial Trust, Narada Gana Sabha and Brahma Gana Sabha.
