A Quartet of Plays of Bratya Basu

The festival is going to present a quartet of plays directed by one of the greatest and accomplished theatre artist, a playwright and director, Bartya Basu.

The festival attempts to present four of Basu's directed plays which have created incredible success and praises across corner. The plays boast of stalwarts as casts to the likes of Sangeet Natak Academy winner Debshankar Haldar, eminent actress Anusuya Majumdar, and veteran actor Subhasis Mukhopadhyay to established theatre performers Sekhar Samaddar, Poulomi Bose, Krishnendu Dewani and Bratya Basu himself.

Saturday, 18th February 2017: 3.00 pm: Meghe Dhaka Tara

Cast: Subhasish Mukherjee, Poulomi Bose and others.

Synopsis: The theatrical form of Ritwik Ghatak's classic film, 'Meghe Dhaka Tara' - 'Meghe Dhaka Tara'. The attempt to construct a play from a film becomes the perfect blend of two media.

Saturday, 18th February 2017: 6.30 pm: Cinemar Moto

Playwright and direction:

Cast:
Bratya Basu, Anusuya Majumdar, Poulomi Bose, Krishnendu Deqanji and Sekhar Samaddar

Synopsis: A fiction on life of a leading actress of yesteryears and the conflicting relationship with her elder son while the later comes back.

Sunday, 19th February 2017: 3.00 pm: Boma

Playwright and direction:
Bratya Basu

Cast: Debshankar Haldar, Poulomi Bose, Krishnendu Dewanji and others.

Synopsis: This play depicts the story of Bengals' freedom movement in the fiery era (1908-1922). The dream of revolution and its flair, fight and despair of failure, tension and stress in individual relationship, trust and lack of it - all these are reflected in each state of the play.

Sunday, 19th February 2017: 6.30 pm, Ruddhasangeet

Playwright and direction:
Bratya Basu

Cast: Debshankar Haldar, Bratya Basu, Poulomi Bose, Krishnendu Dewanji and others.
Synopsis: The play depicts the life of Debabrata Biswas, one of the greatest Rabindrasangeet singer of Bengal.
