The play Anumanada Avanthara is a translated version of Moliere’s French original “The Imaginary Cuckold” directed by Vikas Shastri from CentreStage Theatrics. It opens up with a greedy and domineering father forcing his daughter Vasantha to marry the wealthy groom, but she is in love with Mohan. Vasantha, in distress at her forceful marriage, faints in the street, loses her portrait of Mohan. This Event Leads to series of Mistaken assumptions and quarreling which makes the audience laugh as the characters misinterpret what they see. With all these comical chaos the play ends up with bottom line “You have seen how the strongest evidence can still plant a false belief in the mind. Even when you see everything, never believe anything.”
