Baribathala Raju is a farce comedy adapted from ‘Nanga Raja’ a Hindi play written by writer Alakanandan. It is originally an Uzbek Folk Tale. Due to its satirical tone, the play repeatedly bursts with laughter.
A King is so obsessed with his clothes that he neglects his people and their problems in his own kingdom. He is surrounded by a corrupt and a sycophant minister and a reckless attendant. His Queen and her melodramatic attendant are desperate for his attention too. In this situation, the King is challenged by the neighbouring king in an interesting contest. Enter three smart thugs who come to loot the king in the pretext of helping him for the contest. What is the contest? Do the thugs succeed in their plan? Does the King realize his folly?
