They live amongst us, unnoticed, taking abode in the shadows. Move amongst us, unnoticed, remaining as sidelined as lamp posts. As the day breaks, they make themselves visible to satiate man`s innate needs and desires. They were once treated as royalty but now their day-to-day state is a near fatality.
Prime Cut, is a devised performance attempting to open conversations about the thriving yet secluded sect of the society and working class, the Sex workers. It throws light on the lives of Sex workers, their struggles, their little joys, their ambitions and most importantly to be a medium to voice their opinions, concerns and challenges extracted from real-life accounts through extensive research by the team.
The entire performance is a collaborative piece where the actors work without the aid of a script, but construct plot-points and interesting unconventional stage designs upon ideation to bring about an organic output. The piece is inclusive of some common and unlikely events sex-workers face on a day-to-day basis, how they tackle and the choices they resort to, to make ends meet. It also brings to notice the state of mental health of sex workers, which in their case, is often dismissed.
