Every night in New Delhi, Uday Kumar (UK) answers panicked calls to the Goldmine Crypto GB Helpline fantasising about being British himself, filling his YouTube channel with visions of a sophisticated new life of affluence, fish and chips and tea with the royals. Then a chance conversation one tea break reveals how he might make it all a reality. And At dawn a mere week later, he leaves the call centre for ever and boards his first ever flight, to take his place amongst the English.

What happens next is the subject of Mohit Mathur’s hilarious and poignant one- man- play of high hopes humbled in Hounslow and an Influencer stripped of influence amidst the brutal reality of the UK care sector, asking how and why, each year, hundreds of young men like UK vanish without trace. 

A rare chance to rethink much you’ve assumed about those who hope to live amongst us in a first piece from an exciting new playwright and west end performer, in collaboration with one the UKs most experienced theatre makers.

Mohit Mathur`s Bio 

Mohit Mathur is an Indian actor/ dancer/ theatre maker, a graduate from the Drama Centre London.

He has extensively toured the world as the lead Actor of the West End show "Beyond Bollywood". He was also the lead performer of other traveling shows as well, like Mumbai Nights 2 (Louvre, Abu Dhabi), Bollywood Magic (China) and Indika the show (UK). 

 Since 2020, Mohit has been a part of the Flute Theatre Acting Company in the UK, led by Kelly Hunter MBE. A project aiming at pushing the boundaries of performing Shakespeare to audiences and participants with autism. Recently he performed in the Craiova Shakespeare festival and Serbia with their latest Main Stage show of Midsummer Nights Dream.

In 2022 performed with Welsh National Opera`s new opera "Migrations" as a consultant and dance captain with the theme of Indian migrant doctors in the UK in the 1970s. The same year he performed at the West End with the show Life of Pi. Currently he is touring with Life of Pi shows internationally and finishing the tour in India at the NMACC

He is passionate about migrant stories and how our colonial past has shaped our present.

Dial 1 for UK is a one man show created as a part of Vital Exposure`s Wellspring program deaf/disabled/ neurodivergent writing program he was a part of last year. It had its rehearsed reading at the Baron`s Court Theatre in London followed by a 3 day run at the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith, London.
