The two plays of this

evening are both set in Russia, but are about two very different sets of

people. One set are the `Jews’ who led a rather difficult life in Czarist

Russia. The other set are the more privileged ‘Russians’.

The fathers in each of

these two plays want to do the best for their children—but how different these

two ‘bests’ are! Come and find out.

Tevye

Wins a Fortune (adaptation from a short story by Sholem Aleichem, Dramatised by Ravi Raj Sagar)

Sholom Aleichem’s short stories are full of gentle

humor. They are about the lives of the Jews who lived in a little village

in Czarist Russia—their joys, their disappointments, their troubles, their

relationships. ‘Tevye Wins a Fortune’ is a dramatized version of a story with

the same name. This is the same Tevye who was made famous by his inclusion in

the musical ‘Fiddler on the Roof’. Come and enjoy a few days of the life he

leads in the 40 minutes of this play.

The

Arrangement (A short story of Anton Chekhov, dramatized by Neil Simon)

It is a sweet, poignant story about the relationship between a

‘cool’ father and his young son. The father thinks that that it is time for his

son needs to know about the ways of love. He decides to introduce his reluctant

son to a very beautiful lady. How do you think his well-laid plans will work?
