Ghalib Ke Khat (Urdu)

Ghalib Ke Khat (Urdu)

Drama | Urdu | Age 6+

Ghalib Ke Khat is a unique play. Breaking from the tradition of simple letter recitation, the play is the first ever dramatic  presentation of the famous letters of the great poet, full of ‘Humour’... and ‘Tragedy’ also, particularly the tragic story of India’s first war of independence in 1857.

Also!! This time around, one would see Ghalib’s equally learned wife  - Umrao Begum - and his far more witty maid - Wafadar - gracing the stage

Also appear on stage Ghalib’s famous friends and disciples --  Alai, Majrooh, and Munshi Har Gopal Taftah, a very, very famous Persian poet in the 19th century.

The play features some of the prominent actors of the country; including Jaskiran Chopra, doing the first ever extensive portrayal of Mirza Ghalib’s wife; Bhumi Nikhat Siraj as Mirza Ghalib’s witty and vivacious maid, and Dr M Sayeed Alam in multiple roles.

The play has been written and directed by Dr M Sayeed Alam, reputed for his penchant for humorous, historical and historic plays.

Last but not the least, the play is produced by Pierrot’s Troupe - the theater company credited with giving many new, original, entertaining and ever running productions to Hindi, Urdu and English Theatre in India: Ghalib In New Delhi, Maulana Azad, Cut…Cut…Cut, Big B, Ghalib, K L Saigal, Sons of Babur, 1947, Ghalib Ke Khat, Shah Jahan –O- Mumtaz, Pakistan Aur Alzheimer’s, To Gandhi Ji With Spelling Mistakes, Tumko Chahoon, The Tale Of Quarles etc.
