After Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's death in 1680, Aurangzeb waged a prolonged war in the Deccan with the ambition of conquering the entire Hindustan. After annexing the Bahmani Sultanates, he shifted his focus toward the Maratha Kingdom. He succeeded in capturing and executing Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and also seized Raigad, the capital of the Maratha Kingdom.
Aurangzeb believed that the conquest of the Deccan was complete.
However, the Marathas rose from the ashes, fought for 17 years, and provided fierce resistance to Aurangzeb and his Mughal forces.
The battle of prestige for Aurangzeb was a battle for existence for the Marathas.
Come and witness the untold stories of Maratha generals Santaji and Dhanaji, who, under the leadership of Chhatrapati Rajaram and Tarabai, kept the dream of Maratha Swarajya alive.
