How To Skin A Giraffe
The play 'How to Skin a Giraffe' is inspired by the play 'Leonce and Lena' by the iconic German Playwright, Georg Buchner (1813 to 1837). It is considered one of the genuinely comic pieces in the German language and is Buchner's only humourous work. The other plays that Buchner wrote were 'Danton's Death' and 'Woyzeck', his most famous play, before his untimely death in 1837 aged just 23.In this play Buchner takes a gently ironical look at some of his favourite subjects: idleness and boredom, love, autocratic government and people as puppets among other things, treating all these in an absurd vein.
Since premiering in 2013, 'How to Skin a Giraffe' has been staged in Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Thrissur, Delhi, Dharwad and Pondicherry both independently and in prestigious festivals like The Hindu Metroplus Theatre Festival, Mumbai Literature Live, The National Theatre Festival organized by The National School of Drama, The International Theatre Festival of Kerala (ITFok), The Remembering Veenapani Festival and others.
