Stories from the Mahabharata

The Mahabharata thrives in countless forms across the Indian Subcontinent—each version, a unique blend of art, imagination, and  storytelling. From folklore to dance, sculpture to literature, it adapts and evolves, lending itself to multiple perspectives.

Stories from the Mahabharata will be an oral storytelling event exploring a few versions of this story of stories.

About the Storyteller:

Aparna Jaishankar is  fascinated by the versatility of the Mahabharata. Books, Research papers, prevalent practices, rituals, performances, artforms and primary research are sources for these stories for the curated performance.  

It is perhaps the reason why the Mahabharata, not very modestly, claims that “That which is found here can be found elsewhere. That which is not here, cannot be found elsewhere.”
