K.C. and Lovelin are having an affair. K.C’s wife Avan has been asking him difficult questions. Lovelin’s husband Zed is K.C’s best friend.
Florian Zeller’s play takes us into the murky spaces where modern-day relationships skid and swivel, and yet somehow manage to find their feet. But the questions remain and everyday compromises leave their own scars. In this frothy confection, the bitter under-taste of soured friendship and cheap lies forces us to acknowledge the “Truth” of post-modern morality.
“A lie is only a sin if it does harm. When it does good, it’s a very great virtue; so be ever more virtuous.” Voltaire.
“The Truth”, in this translation by Christopher Hampton, was first presented in association with Theatre Royal Bath productions on 10th March 2016.
