Ram`s Shakti Puja

Dramatic essence

This poem by Suryakant Tripathi Nirala ji is based on the background of Ram-Ravana war. One day during the war, Ram becomes worried to see that his accurate arrow targets are getting corrupted. Ravana`s army is excited while Ram and his army are very sad and disappointed. Ram wants to free Sita from Ravana`s captivity at any cost, but due to today`s war he feels that he will not be able to win this war. Ram tells Vibhishan and his other colleagues that today he saw Shakti Maa Durga fighting on the side of Ravana. Jambavan advises Rama that he too should worship Shakti like Ravana. Ram requests Hanuman to bring 108 lotus flowers for the worship of Goddess Durga. In the last phase of the puja, Shakti (Maa Durga) steals the last flower to test Ram. Ram becomes very disappointed but then he sees a solution. He tells Vibhishan that his mother used to call him Kamal Nayan. He will offer one of his eyes to the goddess in place of the lost lotus. Just as he is about to offer his eyes to the goddess, Shakti appears and holds Ram`s hand. The mother becomes pleased and blesses Ram for victory and merges into Ram`s body.

directorial

This timeless poem by great poet Nirala has always been a center of attraction for theater artists. Vice, it is considered very important for correct pronunciation exercise. This adaptation of Kumar Sanjay is a bit easy for the actors who do not have very good knowledge of Sanskrit, that is why I chose it. How Ram moves forward on the path of victory by worshiping Shakti (Maa Durga) has been beautifully depicted in the theatrical presentation. In this, the main scenes of the poem are easily conveyed to the audience through two narrators.

Arrives like a story.
