On Gopal Sharman’s 83rd birth anniversary, Akshara Theatre presents a weekend of short plays based on his stories. His hallmark artistry – brilliant writing and contemporary wit grounded in India’s classical and philosophical traditions are evident in the stories: Two And Two, Full Circle, The Language of Illiteracy and This And That And Zero. The plays are adapted and directed by Jalabala Vaidya, Sunit Tandon, Vikalp Mudgal and Nisa and Dhruv Shetty and performed by the Akshara Repertory. The stories are about love, miracles, mathematics, beauty, small-town India and the Big Zero and formed part of Gopal Sharman and Jalabala Vaidya’s first theatre production full circle, which had stormed Europe and England in the 60s and 70s.
