About the Play
Rakta Vivaha is a Kannada play adaptation of Federico García Lorca`s “Blood Wedding”. This is a tragic play about a Bride who elopes with her former lover, Leonardo Felix, on her wedding day to the Bridegroom. This act reignites a deadly family feud. Driven by honor and vengeance, the Bridegroom pursues them. The play culminates in a fatal knife fight, leaving both the Bridegroom and Leonardo dead. The women of the play, especially the Mother of the Bridegroom, are left to grapple with the devastating consequences of passion and violence.
About the Director
Apoorva Anagalli, a theatre director, performance maker and actor trained in University of Kent, UK and National School of Drama, New Delhi. Her practice encompasses directing, devising performances that juxtapose modern issues with theatre productions. She also experiments with amalgamation of Indian traditional art forms and modern theatre design aspects, technologies, computational advancements in theatre music and sound production in her theatre productions.

ANEKA, an experimental theatre group, founded and chaired by Shri Suresh Anagalli, a senior alumnus of National School of Drama, New Delhi, and the former Regional Director of NSD Regional Centre, Bangalore.
Aneka spearheads Indian theatre today based in Bangalore. Aneka by its name denotes and aims to uphold the plurality of our culture. Its repertoire of productions attempt to rediscover or create myths and play them out against the issues arising out of their negotiations with modernity and modernization, while exploring new possibilities in the language of theatre. Aneka productions have been showcasing in many of the National and International Theatre festivals, over the years.
Along with theatre productions Aneka has been organizing National and Regional Theatre Festivals, Children Theatre Activities, Actors Training Program, Theatre Appreciation Courses, Seminars and Symposiums, Exhibitions and Social Awareness programs.
