Ramleela – Relive the Story at Leon`s World

Drama | English, Hindi | Age 2-6 years

The Ramayana is one of the great epics of India. The story of the ideal man, ‘purushottam’ Ram who gives up his kingdom every luxury just to keep his father’s word; Sita, his wife who honors her vows a follows him into banishment and the Laxman, the ever-devoted brother, has captured the imagination of generations. The Ramayana is an ideal, a roadmap to a righteous life that many strive to live up to.

The enactment of the Ramayana has been a part of the Dussehra festival for centuries. Called the Ramleela, it is performed across the country even in small towns and villages. In fact, the UNESCO has declared the Ramleela to be a “Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage” of our country.

Leon’s World Centre for Holistic Learning and Development will be bringing this heritage to the children this Dussera. The play, 'Ramleela… Relive the Story' will be staged by Grooming Babies Global Pvt. Ltd. The story of the Ramayan has been especially simplified for young audiences and the narration is brought alive through a dramatization of handcrafted puppet characters, background music, interactivity, and humor. The essence of the story remains the same and the central core story traces the journey of Prince Ram, his wife Sita and brother Laxman after being banished from their Kingdom Ayodhya. It culminates with the battle with Ravana, the King of Lanka who was defeated by ram on the tenth day, the day of Dussehra.

Through the play, Leon’s World Centre and Grooming Babies Global Pvt. Ltd. want to introduce India’s rich cultural heritage to kids who have grown up with 24x7 cartoon channels. Grooming Babies believes, “True leadership comes from being emotionally secure, confident and proactive which stems from being comfortable with one’s culture, heritage, and ethnic background.”
