Veh Wahan Quaid Hain

Drama | Hindi | Age 18+

Veh  Wahan Quaid Hain is a socio-political drama based on a short novel of the same name by Priyamvad. Set in early 1970’s amid the looming tension of the religious riots. It delves on the lives of its protagonists - an aged retired professor, who is a firm believer in the idea of ‘Hope’ and its ability to rid us of social ills in our lives and society, and his daughter Pratu, an articulate woman devoted to her family, her close friend Avinash and his idealistic right-wing best friend Chinmay. Each is a prisoner of their past, present and beliefs.

The play emphasizes the paradoxical nature of religion, magnifying through the lens of its characters and asks whether religion empowers us or handicaps us. Leaving us questioning, is there any hope?
