The two of them quickly get acquainted, fall in love, and elope to Paris. But Manon longed for riches and des Grieux couldn’t provide them. She was persuaded to leave him and go to a life of luxury with the nobleman de Brétigny. Manon has to pay the price for choosing luxury over love.
