Ranthambore Festival

Ranthambore Festival

Imagine a weekend filled with the strains of folk music: moonlit performances by music and dance luminaries, an open-air wildlife film festival on a giant screen, tiger safaris, enlightening interactive talks on conservation, photography and music workshops, wellness camps, a pop-up souk, and more all set against the backdrop of our breathtaking venue, the Nahargarh Palace, Ranthambore.

The Ranthambore Festival, to be held from 27-29 January 2017, is more than just a celebration - our not-for-profit festival seeks also to act as a unifying platform. Over the Republic Day weekend, the corridors of the Nahargarh Palace, Ranthambore will see influencers and audiences from different paths come together and connect for one purpose: to supercharge the music and nature conservation effort by supporting its patrons and effecting change through meaningful dialogue and intent. This initiative is supported by BookASmile, and by First Stone.

As the sun sets, watch the stunning BookASmile Hathikund Mainstage light up with magical folk and fusion musical and dance performances under the stars. Sharing the spotlight with world-renowned luminaries like Mallika Sarabhai, Zila Khan, Maati Baani, Neeraj Arya's Kabir Cafe, Karl Lutchmayer, Rajeev Raja and Fabrizio Cassol, will be Rajasthan's own indigenous folk artists such as Ustaad Gafoor Khan, Ustad Hakim Khan, Nagga Khan, Kailash Dan and more, whose musical prowess begs recognition from a wider audience.

It is said that the best way to patronize an art is to build a stage. At the Ranthambore Festival, we have brought this ages-old advice to life. The expansive Puqaar amphitheatre is an architectural marvel has been built especially for the festival, and will host stimulating interactive talks, and music appreciation workshops by Zila Khan and UK-based piano maestro Karl Lutchmayer, sound meditation and Mongolian singing workshop with Tritha Sinha and Martin Dubois, and a theatre voice training workshop with Asif Ali Beg. This venue will also bring together leading conservationists, social influencers and business thought leaders for our unEarth summit a buzzing series of interactive panel discussions and talks on a range of stimulating topics pertaining to Indias musical and environmental past, present and future.

The festival will also host an engaging open-air wildlife film festival in the Palace lawns, curated by Indias leading Environmental and Wildlife forum, CMS Vatavaran, which will showcase works from the some of the best wildlife filmmakers in the country and abroad such as Saravana Kumar, Kartick Satyanarayan, Oliver Goetzl, Shekar Dattatri, Giuseppe Bucciarelli, and many more. go on a heritage walk to the nearby UNESCO-listed Ranthambore Fort, or glimpse Ranthambores undulating landscape from atop a hot air balloon.

Head over to the bustling Pop-Up Souk, that will showcase a host of eclectic lifestyle brands like Nicobar, Ayca, Teatro Dhora and Shorshe alongside unique NGO startups like Okhai, Pench Pickle Company, Dhonk and Dastkar Ranthambore. Foodies can sample the diverse local and global flavours at our Food festival. In between all the excitement, you can rejuvenate yourself in the calm nooks of the Palace with our wellness activities such as Yoga and Meditation Workshops by Kadambari Yoga, or join in fellow festival-goers and participate in the guided drum circles, interactive cookout and heritage walks.
