There is an increased level of desire in public to cycle and the number of cycling clubs and individuals seen on the road bear testimony to that fact.
This craze is not surprising because Cycling is mainly an aerobic activity that gives our heart, blood vessels and lungs all a workout. We will breathe deeper, perspire and experience increased body temperature, which will improve our overall fitness level. The health benefits of regular cycling include increased cardiovascular fitness.
And it is precisely for the above reason that the 2nd Cycle Summit is being held in Thane on the 3rd of February 2019 from 9 am to 5 pm at the Kashinath Ghanekar Auditorium. The Summit is designed to create awareness & popularise cycling even more amongst the citizens with sessions on the benefits of cycling by leading doctors, Cycle Industrialists & business persons and eminent cyclists themselves.
3rd of February will also see Cycle Ride of 10 Kms at 7 am featuring about 2000+ cyclists from across Maharashtra.
The Summit also has a mascot, Bibya, a young leopard. Leopards are a frequent site in the city of lakes and forest that is Thane.
The Ministry of Sports, The Police Commissioner Thane, Thane Municipal Corporation, DCC, Re-Cycle, Swatva and Mai Chalaungi are the organisers of the 2nd Cycle Summit which is being powered by iCAN (India Cycling Activity Network)
