Kalaripayattu is one of the most ancient martial arts from Kerala, India. It travelled with Bodhidharma and is evidently the base of all oriental martial arts.
Kalaripayattu- draws on the vocabulary from nature and its movements. The basic steps are named after animals and inspired by observation of their stances. It channels the raw energy of the individual through concentrated focus and discipline and pushes the boundaries of the body and mind. The specific breathing practices in the sequences help calm the mind and develop focus and clarity in the mind.
This workshop will be an introduction to the basic stances and kicks in Kalaripayattu and help the individual be more attentive to herself/himself and his surroundings.
