Pluto Racing League, aka 'PRL' is India's first nano-drone racing
league. PRL is a racing tournament to be held at ISDI Parsons, Parel over the course of two weekends of September. As part of the event, participants will get flying lessons and will be guided through the rules and regulations in the beginning of the first weekend.
After this, the competition will go by the following structure:
Day 1 and Day 2 - Qualifying Round (80 Participants only)
Each participant will get a chance to fly around a pre-designed arena. The top 32 participants that pick up the most points during their flight will then be selected for the Round of 32.
Day 3 - Round of 32 (Time Trial)
Participants who have made it into this round are considered contestants. They will be flying around a pre-designed arena in the fastest time possible without avoiding obstacles on course. The top 16 times recorded (lesser is better) will then make it into the Quarter Finals.
Day 4 - Quarter-Finals (Top 16)
There will be 8 races in duel format between participants that have made it to the quarter finals. These participants will be seeded against opponents based on their time in the previous round. The winners of these duels (8 participants) will make it into the semi-finals.
Day 4 - Semi Finals (8 Participants)
Duels will be contested similar to the quarter finals but this time, with a tougher arena and more complicated racing conditions. 4 Winners will advance to the final round.
Day 4 - Finals (4 Participants)
An endurance race between the 4 remaining participants will take place through complicated obstacles, pit-stops and higher number of laps. Prizes will be given to 1st Place and Podium Finishes (2nd and 3rd).
Winners will be given exclusive prizes in the form of goodies from Drona Aviation and others. Winners will also be given exclusive opportunities to showcase their drone flying talent during future events and get recognized by professionals in the industry. Prizes worth Rs. 25,000+ are up for grabs. Apart from the prizes, all 80 participants will receive freebies such as T-Shirts, Wrist-bands, refreshments, etc.
What do you get by participating in PRL?
Every participant in the PRL will get a chance to learn more about drones and the global Drone Industry. They will also get a chance to showcase what they have learnt
and demonstrate their drone flying skills, recognition for which can come in handy in todays world. Participants who do not know about or have never flown a drone before get the opportunity to have a hands-on approach at drone flight and also win something out of it. Apart from all this, they get a chance to be the pioneer's one of a new category of Drone-Racing in India.
