Situated in the spiritual land of Tirupati, the Chandragiri fort is one of the many great monuments, which acts as a reminder for the kings who ruled over the land. The Chandragiri fort has a rich history behind it. It started when the fort was built by the Yadava Rayas in the 11th century, who went on to rule over it for over three centuries. After changing hands from the Yadava Rayas to the Golcondas and then to the Kings of Mysore, the fort sunk into oblivion after it was abandoned in the 18th century.

Main attractions of Chandragiri fort:
The main attraction of the Chandragiri fort is the Raja Mahal which has been converted into a museum, displaying various artifacts found in the fort. In addition to this, the museum also houses models of the fort, the main temple and various other small temples along with various granite and bronze sculptures. Apart from the main attraction, the Raja Mahal, there is also a Rani Mahal inside the fort. The light and sound show is alos an attraction which draws tourists to the monument. The timings for the light and sound show are 6:30 pm to 7:15 pm in Telugu, and 7:30 pm to 8:15 pm in English

How to reach Chandragiri Fort:
Chandragiri Fort is situated about 12 km from Tirupati from where tourists can avail buses to reach the Chandragiri fort.
The entry fees for Chandragiri fort is INR 15 for Indian nationals and INR 200 for foreign nationals. The opening time for the Chandragiri fort is 9 am and its closing time is 5:30 pm. The monument is closed to the public on Fridays.
