SYNOPSIS
A dashing naval officer, a beautiful wife and a perfect world. This was Naval Commander Rustom Pavri`s life.

Until one day he realizes his perfect life isntwhat he thought it was. As events unfold we realize his wife is having an affair with his best friend.

Three fatal shots change their lives.

Though the climax has been smartly fictionalised, this courtroom drama is essentially based on the real life of Naval officer KM Nanavati, who in 1959, shot and killed his wife`s lover. The subsequent trial was one of India`s most sensational court cases. Coming to the film, Rustom has a cracker of a beginning. Without wasting any time, the director comes straight to the point. Pavan Malhotra is typically dependable in the role of the investigating police officer, and Akshay Kumar shows some flair. Akshay cuts a dashing figure in his naval uniform. His erect spine is shorthand for a man of duty and determination. But his character doesnt have vulnerability or an arc. There is one nicely done jail scene when Rustom meets Cynthia for the first time after the murder. He grips his own arms tightly so that he doesnt hug her. Its sad and moving. The film is brave enough to give us a man who is so evolved that he understands and forgives his errant wife. But instead of exploring the dynamics of this, we get lost in heroism, corruption and courtroom dramatics. And truthfully, the only thing Parsi about Akshay is the name Rustom ...Read full review
