The play is based on Albert Camus's ""Les Justes"" (The Just Assassins). The original play is set in Russia in 1905, where five members of the revolutionary socialist party are planning to bomb The Grand Duke. Loosely based on actual historical events, Camus's play is a discourse on violence, revolution, morality, justice, love, and life itself. A History of Butchers is however not an ""adaptation"" or a ""reinterpretation"" of the original. It's a new text written using Stuart Gilbert's English translation of the Camus original. It borrows characters, plot, events, and ideas from the original but instead of a ""period piece"" but here the characters exist in a limbo because the idea of the assassination itself transcends the boundaries of time and space. Our play, therefore, is ""A History"" as opposed to ""The History"" because it simultaneously lives in the past, present, and future.

The play 'Hasavafasvi' is a comedy play written by Shri. Dilip Prabhavalkar. The major attraction of this play is six different funny characters played by one actor. The one after the other hilarious & surprising entries of these peculiar funny characters make the audience laugh from the beginning till the end. These six different characters are not only different but are unique with their unique and whimsical personalities. These also represent particular groups of society, like a teenager boy represents the generation of young boys that are crazy for rock and pop music, and hippy culture, etc. Some of these characters are based on real life people while some are imaginary. The play revolves around a programme organized by New Rugvedi Sarvajanik Ustav Mandala, a small middle class group to felicitate Mr. Krishnarao Herambakar, a veteran singer actor of musical theatre era. He is still popular and the people have fond memories of him as singer actor. The plot of the playMr. Krishnarao Herambakar has not yet arrived for the felicitation programme. He has left his village with his wife and is still travelling. During their travel, they face troubles like the tire of their car gets punctured etc. (the audience comes to know about this in the conversation among the organizers representing Mr. Waghmare & Ms. Monika of the programme). In the meantime, the organizers try to entertain the audience and hence these entries of five characters unknowingly come to the rescue of organizers and in a way entertain the audience. These entries are not planned. These are spontaneous and situational. This helps in throughout smooth comical flow of the play. First entry of Chimanrao a character, Mr. Dilip Prabhavalkar is well known for (it is the character from the stories written by well know Marathi Author C.V. Joshi)Second entry is of Prince Vangtung PinPin from Chingpong country. This is the imaginary character who has come to Pune for education, fallen in love with and married to a Marathi girl. This character speaks Marathi in a Chinese accent, which sounds very funny.Next character entry is of Mr. Nana Punje (Kombadiwala) who runs a chicken/meat shop. He has booked the same hall for condolence meeting of Raosaheb Gurgute. He comes for the preparation of condolence meeting; here the comedy is created through paradoxical situation. Nana Punje also has praise & respect for Mr. Krishnarao. He is ready to compromise & even if he sounds dry from outside he still has humanity in him, this shows kindhearted human side of this character.Next is a surprise as it is a lady character who poses herself as sister of Mr. Pushkar. She has won the lottery and is called on stage with her ticket no. and she is none other than a lady character Purvi played by our actor.Next comes a teenager who represents the pop, hippy generation of young boys. He is the son of Mr. Modvikar who has sponsored the prizes of the lottery. All these characters continuously entertain the audience either through their weird funny looks; outfits, dialogues and they create comical situations, which keeps audience in split. The curiosity of the audience is hold on till the last entry that is of Mr. Krishnarao Herambakar. The last but not the least is the entry of Mr. Krishnarao Herambakar who represents the old generation. His entry also takes the play to a serious note or rather makes audience nostalgic. This character throws light upon the careless attitude of the society in large towards the elderly. This play is a challenge for an actor as playing these different comic roles (including a role of a lady) with different make-up, Getups and costume is a challenging task.Mr. Pushkar Shrotri has successfully taken up this challenge as he himself is a versatile actor from Marathi theatre and hence this play comes out a successful comedy.
