I.V. Sasi was an Indian film director who predominantly worked in the Malayalam film industry. In the four decades of his career, Sasi not only made his name as one of Mollywood`s finest directors but was also responsible for bringing the actors Mohanlal and Mammootty to the limelight and establishing them as the massive superstars they are today. He forayed into the Tamil, Telugu and Hindi film industries as well, curating a filmography of over 150 credits in total. His most impactful films were the ones he made between 1970 and 1990. Some of his best works are Utsavam (1975), Avalude Raavukal (1978), Patita (1980), Anubandham (1985), Aavanazhi (1986), Nadodikkattu (1987), Mrigaya (1989), and Devasuram (1993) among many others. The acclaimed and widely respected director passed away in October of 2017.
