About The Event

A practical workshop designed to help aspiring actors understand the nuances of performing for the camera. The workshop focuses on camera presence, facial expressions, body language, dialogue delivery, voice modulation, continuity, eyelines and naturalistic acting for film, television and digital medium. Participants work on camera-based exercises and scenes under the guidance of the experienced faculties, with practical feedback to improve their on-screen performance.

1. Introduction to Camera Acting


Difference between stage and camera acting


Understanding the camera, framing and shots


Importance of natural and subtle performance


2. Camera Presence and Facial Expressions


Performing for close-up, mid-shot and wide-shot


Eye expressions and micro-expressions


Avoiding overacting and unnecessary movements


3. Body Language, Eyeline and Positioning


Natural body movement in front of the camera


Understanding eyelines


Maintaining position and continuity during takes


4. Dialogue Delivery and Emotional Expression


Natural dialogue delivery


Voice modulation, pauses and emphasis


Connecting emotions with dialogue


Reacting naturally to co-actors


5. Scene/ Monologue Preparation


Understanding the character and situation


Identifying the character`s objective and emotions


Preparing a short monologue or two-person scene


6. Practical Camera Exercise


Each student performs a short monologue/scene on camera


Practice of close-up and mid-shot performances


Focus on expressions, eyeline, dialogue delivery and body language


Faculties:


Devesh Chaube: A filmmaker, creative professional and video production specialist with experience in advertisements, corporate films and digital content. His expertise in filmmaking, direction and scriptwriting enables him to guide aspiring actors in camera presence, expressions, dialogue delivery, body language and scene interpretation, with a practical, industry-oriented approach.


Vipul Patel: He is a theatre writer, director and actor with extensive experience in acting and performance. He has written, directed and performed in full-length Hindi plays staged at various auditorium and mini-theatres across Mumbai. He has also worked as a writer, director and actor in short films and web series, providing practical exposure to on-camera performance. With over 10 years of experience in teaching Theatre and Acting, he brings a strong blend of theatre training and camera-oriented acting techniques.
