
India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) is delighted to present a musical evening with Mir Mukhtiyar Ali on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 07:30 PM at Chowdiah Memorial Hall, in support of India Foundation for the Arts (IFA). Mukhtiyar Ali will be joined by Fakru Deen on harmonium, Gulam Husain on tabla, Rakesh Kumar on dholak and Deepak Paramasivan on sarangi.
The name Mir Mukhtiyar Ali spells magic in the field of Sufi music! The earthy directness of his Rajasthani folk music merged with the complex octaves of classical traditions is a promise to an unforgettable experience.
Mukhtiyar Ali belongs to the semi-nomadic community of Mirasis, who have been the traditional carriers of the oral tradition of Sufiana Qalam in India. He enthrals audiences, with his unique blend of Rajasthani folk, Kabir and Sufi music.
The versatile Mukhtiyar Ali has collaborated with many Indian as well as foreign musicians, as well as, film directors and lent his voice for several productions such as Had Anhad, Finding Fanny, Bombay Summer and Tashan. He has travelled around the world and has performed at many prestigious venues and is the recipient of many grants, honours and accolades. He also received a grant from India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) in 2005.
Donations received through donor passes will be used by IFA to continue its grantmaking in the arts.
