About The Event

From opening for Grammy-winning artist John Mayer at his debut India concert to headlining his own national tour, singer-songwriter Abdon Mech brings his dynamic indie pop energy for a special full-band performance.

Heartfelt songwriting intertwines with easy-going indie pop in the music of Abdon Mech, an extraordinary artist from the hills of Nagaland. As part of his acclaimed nationwide tour, ‘The Act of Being’ arrives at NMACC for its only full-band experience in Mumbai, capturing Abdon’s evolution from intimate acoustic beginnings to a bolder, more expansive pop expression.

Since his debut single, Again, in 2020, Abdon has carved out his own path, independently releasing two EPs and more than a dozen singles while building a devoted following in Nagaland and across India. His debut EP, From A Bamboo Room, introduced listeners to tracks such as Dopamine (featuring Akhrieze) and Give Me My Soul Back. Subsequent releases, including Always Be (featuring Zuchobeni Tungoe) and Taking My Heart, became live favourites. His second EP, Not Overthinking This, marked another step in his evolution as an indie pop artist. Its standout track, Noye Lhokuthu Iwu, blends his signature sound with the Sumi Naga dialect, becoming an instant hit in Nagaland and showcasing a distinctive meeting of contemporary pop and regional identity.

His live journey has taken him to some of the country’s leading festivals and cultural stages, including Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Serendipity Arts Festival and the Hornbill Music Festival. In his home state, his standalone shows have repeatedly sold out, with The Taking My Heart Show drawing thousands in Dimapur.

For this special evening, Abdon takes the lead on voicals and guitar, joined by Wangshi on guitar, Augustine on bass and vocals, Avizo Solo on drums, and Alino Imsong on keys and vocals. Together, they bring the full breadth of his indie pop range to the stage.
