The Pandharpur Wari is Maharashtra's largest and oldest cultural and religious tradition, dating back over 800 years. In this pilgrimage, hundreds of thousands of Warkaris travel on foot and gather on the banks of the Chandrabhaga River to seek the blessings of Lord Vitthal and Goddess Rukmini at Pandharpur. It is not merely a religious event but is regarded as a vast ocean of equality, brotherhood, and collective devotion.
To celebrate the auspicious eve of 'Ashadhi Wari,' "Abgangwari" will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, starting at 5:00 PM at the Vitthalrao Tupe Natyagruh in Hadapsar, Pune. The concert series "Abhangwari' was initiated to showcase this rare folk art of Mid Maharashtra to audiences across Maharashtra. Abhangs are devotional poems sung in praise of the almighty, serving as exuberant expressions of a shared community experience.
The concert shall feature renowned artists Pt. Raghunandan Panshikar, Sawni Shende, Manisha Nischal & a narrative by Shreyas Badve.
