Step out of a smoggy metro, find a clear patch of sky, and look up - and the twinkling night sky rarely fails to take your breath away. That twinkling beauty contains within it all manner of objects - and a little bit of knowledge helps you recognise constellations, the Milky Way, comets. The beauty then moves beyond pinpoints of light to a sense of the life of a massive universe enveloping you. Astronomers and astrophysicists seek to understand the life of this massive universe beyond the earth. Astrophotographers commit themselves to record this life for both beauty and scientific purposes. Sometimes the scientific search and the recording of beauty come together in one person.
We are delighted to invite astronomer and astrophotographer - Vinita Navalkar - to Mumbai Local, to take us into the science and beauty of the night sky with her amazing photographs. We have so many questions for her - How does astrophotography work? Is knowledge of science necessary for astrophotography? Do the photographs taken impact discoveries in science? Vinita will answer these and more, sharing her discoveries, her journey, and her absolute love for astrophotography with us.
Do join us on Saturday for a journey into the mysteries and beauty of space.
