About The Event

Tracing the Divine Path

This collaborative dance work embarks on a journey through the sacred Shiva Kshetras of India, all aligned on the same longitude. These revered sites extol the transcendent nature of Shiva, the one who surpasses the confines of space and time. The omnipresent sound of AUM, the cosmic vibration, echoes through the universe, emanating from Shiva`s damaru and the radiant sun rays. For Shiva is the sun, and all celestial bodies revolve around Him.

Drawing inspiration from Saint Deekshitar`s Panch Bhoota Kritis, this work weaves a profound connection between Kedarnath and Rameshwaram. This journey symbolizes the inward exploration of the self, recognizing the presence of the five elements within the human body. It underscores the timeless truth that while the body experiences highs and lows, the soul (Atma) remains unaffected, seeking refuge in the supreme Paramam – Shiva, the formless and the form.

This collaborative effort seamlessly blends the grace of Bharatanatyam and Odissi, experimenting with diverse instrumentation for both styles. Dancers Dr. Sahana Selvaganesh and Pooja Kale, under the guidance of their esteemed gurus Smt. Roja Kannan and Smt. Rasika Gumaste, present this work, supported by an exceptional ensemble of musicians: Kum. Preethi Sethuraman on vocals, Kum. Anantha Shree on Nattuvangam, Sri. Ram Prasad on Mardala, Sri. Vignesh Jayaraman on Mridangam, and Smt. Sukanya on violin. Kum. Sruthi Bhuvaneshwari as the sutradara and Kum.Vaishnavi Srinivasan on the technical and design support.
