About The Event
Purva Naresh’s thought-provoking play springs to life with the artful musical compositions by the legendary singer Shubha Mudgal, urging the audience to explore the themes of freedom and restraint.
‘BANDISH 20-20,000Hz’ reflects on the pre-independence freedom struggle and extends the theme by re-examining its enduring relevance in a contemporary context. It centers around four performers from diverse backgrounds — a filmy singer, a pop singer, a nautanki performer, and a classical singer. Caught in an unusual situation, their performance faces potential postponement, cancellation, curtailment, or revision at the organizers' discretion. As they await their turns onstage, they begin sharing stories of their personal struggles and quests for freedom.
The story weaves a rich tapestry of vignettes, adorned with delightful anecdotes, music, and dance. Amidst this, conflicts arise among the artists over their styles, statuses, romances, and jealousies. Featuring a talented ensemble of performers, the play is infused with the spellbinding vocals of singer Shubha Mudgal, supported by a stellar team including Shweta Deshpande, Shantanu Herlekar, Varun Gupta, Rituraj Bhosle, and Purav Jagad.
The dynamic sets in the play add a dramatic touch, seamlessly transporting the audience between time capsules of pre-independent India and the present day. Get ready to be deeply moved, enlightened, and prompted to think about your own limitations with a gentle nudge.
