
‘Beyond Boundaries’ is the latest theatrical offering under the banner of SNB Foundation that has been presenting classical virtuoso for the last 6 years. It will begin with presenting Ishita Mili, an internationally renowned Urban Indian dancer and choreographer from New Jersey. Originally an award-winning Bharatanatyam soloist under the guidance of Smt. Sudha Shekar Devulapalli, Ishita went on to experiment with urban dance with UFP Dance Company. In 2016, she created Urban Indian to share her own voice and holistic identity and later founded IMGE to further expand Urban Indian as a global language through dancers from varied backgrounds and ethnicities. IMGE brings a new medium of storytelling through movement and has been recently highlighted at the Seattle International Dance Festival and won 1st Runner Up at Korean Dance Festival 2019. Ishita was also featured as a rising South Asian Artist in Pulse Magazine UK and Pyragraph.
The second half of the program will feature ‘Ta Ra Va’ (Tal Rag Vadya) by Tabla Maestro Bickram Ghosh, one of the most creative and versatile artists of our times and is the founder of his internationally renowned band ‘Rhythmscapes’. Son of the illustrious Tabla Maestro Pandit Shankar Ghosh and well-known vocalist Sanjukta Ghosh, he has played with such great maestros like Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pandit Balmrlikrishna and many others. He is also recognized as a pioneering force in global fusion music. As a music composer in films, Bickram is the recipient of the Oscar Contention along with Sonu Nigam for the film ‘Jal’ .In 2012 he was awarded the prestigious Banga Bibhushan, the second-highest civilian award and in 2016 the Sangeet Maha Samman, the highest musical recognition award in West Bengal.
