About The Event
Step into an instrumental journey with Manas Kumar and his ensemble, where Indian classical music is reimagined through bold improvisation and contemporary textures, offering a fresh, vibrant listening experience.
Indian classical music finds a new expression in the hands of violinist Manas Kumar, whose original compositions bring intricate classical structures into dialogue with modern rhythms and harmonies. Joined by Niranjan Joshi on keyboard, Rahul Dev on bass and Tanay Rege on tabla, the ensemble presents a purely instrumental evening that moves between intricate ragas and spontaneous improvisation, with each musician adding their own voice to the exchange.
An All India Radio Top-Grade artist and recipient of the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar and Gansarawati Kishori Amonkar Yuva Puraskar, Manas began his musical journey at five and trained for 18 years under Pandit Bidyut Misra of Guwahati. His career has seen him collaborate with artists including Lata Mangeshkar, Arturo Sandoval and Shankar Mahadevan, while his violin can be heard across acclaimed film and web-series scores including A Suitable Boy, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Bandish Bandits and Qala.
This performance is supported by Reliance Foundation.
