Witness Kalaimamani Smt. Priya Murle and her disciples honour the Thanjavur bani in a vibrant Bharatanatyam margam, where rhythm, music, devotion, and abhinaya flow together in graceful harmony.
Rooted in the musical and ritual richness of the Thanjavur bani, this Bharatanatyam recital celebrates a tradition renowned for its intricate rhythm, evocative abhinaya, and distinctive sense of sowkhyam — a graceful, unhurried ease. Led by Kalaimamani Smt. Priya Murle, senior disciple of Sudharani Raghupathy and founder of Shri Silambam Academy of Fine Arts, brings together her senior disciples Lekha Prasad and Sneha Mahesh alongside an ensemble nurtured within the same artistic lineage.
Moving through the traditional arc of a margam, the evening opens with the devotional Todaya Mangalam, followed by the rhythmic precision and geometric beauty of a Jatiswaram. A key highlight is the rarely presented Navasandhi Kauthuvam, a ritual piece associated with temple tradition and preserved within this lineage. The recital continues with the Useni Swarajathi, classic padams, and javalis that bring out the subtle power of abhinaya, before culminating in a vibrant tillana.
‘Echoes of Thanjavur—The Unbroken Legacy’ is a tribute to one of Bharatanatyam’s most treasured traditions, carried forward through music, rhythm, devotion and the living bond between guru and disciple.
