Led by singer-composer Nihar Shembekar, a spirited 13-member ensemble turns Maharashtra’s bhajans, abhangs and folk traditions into a foot-tapping musical celebration.
Bhajans and abhangs have long shaped Maharashtra’s musical landscape, echoing through temples, homes and community gatherings. ‘Folk.Us - Bhajan Utsav’ brings this rich repertoire to The Studio Theatre stage, pairing beloved devotional songs and folk rhythms with fresh arrangements that invite everyone to sing along.
Singer and composer Nihar Shembekar leads the ensemble, joined by chorus vocalists Umesh Joshi, Siddhant Karawde and Vijay Dhuri; keyboardists Adinath Patkar and Nitin Shinde; lead guitarist Ameya Paranjpe; bass guitarist Anup Satam; percussionists Pratik Kawale, Aadesh More, Ratandeep Jamshandekar and Chetan Parab; and flautist Adwait Kashikar. Together, they create a spirited live setting where melody, rhythm and participation come naturally, capturing the communal joy at the heart of Maharashtra’s devotional music.
