About The Event
A director sees the performance before the audience ever does.
Actor, writer and director Ananth Mahadevan has worked across cinema, television and professional theatre, giving him a perspective that spans both sides of the performance process.
About the Masterclass:
What exactly does a director see when they first read a script?
In this masterclass, Ananth Mahadevan explores the director’s journey from page to performance — interpreting a script, developing a vision, working with actors and shaping individual elements into one coherent theatrical experience.
The session will examine the choices that define direction: understanding intention, creating rhythm, guiding performances, blocking scenes, collaborating with the creative and technical teams and knowing when to intervene — and when to allow an actor to discover.
More than learning how to stage a scene, this masterclass is about learning how to see the larger picture while never losing sight of the smallest detail.
For aspiring directors, actors, writers and theatre lovers who want to understand the mind behind the stage.
