Experience the grace of Rajasthan's royal heritage as the Gangaur Ghoomar Dance Academy brings ghoomar to the stage through tradition, music and timeless cultural legacy.
Once the closely guarded dance tradition of Rajasthan's royal households, ghoomar embodies elegance, heritage, and feminine grace. Revived from the private chambers of the Antahpur by Padma Shri Late H.H. Rajmata Goverdan Kumari of Kishangarh, the dance was brought out of seclusion and carefully restored to its purest form, honouring its original movements, music, and costume.
In 1986, Rajmata Sa founded the Gangaur Ghoomar Dance Academy, dedicating her life to preserving and sharing Rajasthan's dance heritage. Her legacy includes training artists for the iconic ghoomar sequence in Padmaavat, which brought the dance to national and international audiences.
Today, through performances and immersive workshops, the academy continues to celebrate this enduring tradition. Led by Dr. Pratiba Naitthani, Maharani Mandakini Kumari, and Ms. Jyothi D. Tommaar, it carries Rajmata Sa's vision forward, ensuring that ghoomar continues to inspire new generations while offering audiences a window into Rajasthan's rich cultural heritage.
